Designed to uplift, the instantly contagious song merges Ladipoe’s powerful rap flow and delivery with an anthemic chorus from Fireboy. With production driven by Andre Vibez, ‘Running’ reflects Poe’s musical DNA incorporating his poignant penship and feel-good spirit.

Ladipoe’s international growth skyrocketed after the success of his recent single ‘Feeling’ alongside breakthrough vocalist BUJU spread across the globe. The track broke records racking up over 80M streams in addition to being the first song in Nigeria to go to No.1 on YouTube without a video. Global impact of the track contributed to a well-earned BET Awards Nomination for Best International Flow which he narrowly missed out on to Little Simz. Celebrating the success of ‘Feeling’, this summer he spent weeks in the UK immersing himself in the culture, connecting with in demand rapper Millionz before joining Mavin Records label mate Rema on stage at All Points East before returning back to Lagos.

Growing up, Poe had a very different life set out for him, he studied a double major and masters in the US, in North Carolina with the intention of becoming a doctor. It wasn’t until a friend sent him a beat that his obsession for music and writing lyrics began, and the rest they say is history. He was there at the inception of the highly regarded Alté scene, and has since worked with the likes of Tems, Teni, Falz, Crayon, Simi to name a few. Ladipoe has succeeded in switching things up and changing the narrative surrounding rappers from Nigeria. His lyrics make him stand out within the global rap scene and his lyrics never fail to invoke a reaction.

TRACK LYRICS – LADIPOE feat. FIREBOY DML ‘Running’

LADIPOE, Fireboy
and Vibez man
Here’s another story
from a bad man

There’s no time,
There’s no energy
I’m just running;
Running, running.
Sweet white wine
‘Cause there’s no Hennessy
I’m just running
Running on vibes

Even though the country
Don dey tire me
I dey catch cruise
Eko Miami
If only bad news could be bribed
take all my money
I like my lies sweet
tastes like irony

But that’s the reason
I dey vex my n***a
Heavy is the head
but forget my n***a
Crown don dey bend
From the stress my n***a
It’s getting hard to suppress my liquor

So I’m drinking more wine
At four thirty
I’d rather be online
Than out with company
Man I’m tryna numb my mind
The thoughts are too heavy;
‘Cause life is no joke we cope with comedy

I really no dey see your face
That’s why we switch lanes
No dey indicate
Everybody wan blow
Who dey pick the date
God when will I be the one that they imitate
But most times I feel no one can relate
When

There’s no time,
There’s no energy
I’m just running;
Running, running.
Sweet white wine
‘Cause there’s no Hennessy
I’m just running
Running on vibes

There’s no time,
There’s no energy
I’m just running;
Running, running.
Sweet white wine
‘Cause there’s no Hennessy
I’m just running
Running on vibes

Afrobeats or na kpangolo
I took that shit international
Ain’t leaving until it’s time to go
Galloping like i’m an antelope
ou ha
I took it personal
Lone soldier me I dey stand alone
Me I dey fight for my envelope
But me i no fit to dey fight alone
ou ha

And you don’t have to bro
What’s a vaccine to an antidote
Blood, sweat, tears in my engine o
If you smell success that’s my cologne

Broke almost every code
Still I got fans filling every row
This anointing from the microphone
And that’s on God only heaven knows

There’s no time,
There’s no energy
I’m just running;
Running, running.
